Erik Johnson is a dedicated criminal defense attorney, with a unique passion for defending the legal rights of his clients. His particular legal expertise includes, but is not limited to: domestic violence, hit-and-run, drug related offenses, theft (both petty and grand) and moral crimes. Mr. Johnson is an honors-scholarship graduate from Saint Mary's College, where he received a bachelor's degree in political theory. He has a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Santa Clara University and was awarded both the CALI and Witkins Award for Excellence in Criminal Law. He received his initial criminal practice training at the Santa Clara County Public Defender's Office where he worked on misdemeanors and felonies alike, including rape, child-abuse/molestation and identity theft. Mr. Johnson also worked for a large civil defense firm on high profile cases before coming to Hinkle, Jachimowicz, Pointer & Emanuel. As an attorney Mr. Johnson is a steadfast advocate in court who has built a good rapport with Bay Area Superior Court judges and attorneys alike. Mr. Johnson is a member of the State Bar of California (including the criminal law section) and the Santa Clara and San Mateo County Bar Associations. His education and experience have given him particular expertise in legal research and argument. Mr. Johnson is a jazz pianist who also enjoys reading, water-skiing and fishing in his free time.
